Psalms 50
1 The mighty God, even
the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the
going down thereof.
2 Out
of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
3 Our
God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and
it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
4 He
shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his
people.
5 Gather
my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by
sacrifice.
6 And
the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
7 Hear,
O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am
God, even thy God.
8 I
will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been
continually before me.
9 I
will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.
10 For
every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
11 I
know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12 If
I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness
thereof.
13 Will
I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer
unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15 And
call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify
me.
16 But
unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that
thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
17 Seeing
thou hatest instruction, and casteth my words behind thee.
18 When
thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker
with adulterers.
19 Thou
givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
20 Thou
sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's
son.
21 These
things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was
altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in
order before thine eyes.
22 Now
consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none
to deliver.
23 Whoso offereth
praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I
shew the salvation of God.
On True authentic repentance: godly sorrow
2 Corinthians 7:
8 For
though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent:
for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but
for a season. 9 Now
I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for
ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in
nothing. 10 For
godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the
sorrow of the world worketh death. 11 For behold
this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it
wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea,
what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all
things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
On warning against
false grace:
Jude
1 Jude, the servant of
Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father,
and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: 2 Mercy unto you, and
peace, and love, be multiplied.
3 Beloved,
when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was
needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly
contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept
in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men,
turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord
God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 I
will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the
Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed
them that believed not. 6 And
the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he
hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the
great day. 7 Even as
Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves
over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an
example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise
also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil
of dignities. 9 Yet
Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the
body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The
Lord rebuke thee. 10 But
these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know
naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe unto them! for they
have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for
reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are spots in your
feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear:
clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit
withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13 Raging waves of the
sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the
blackness of darkness for ever.
14 And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the
Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment
upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly
deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which
ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These
are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth
speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of
advantage.
17 But,
beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our
Lord Jesus Christ; 18 How
that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk
after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These
be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved,
building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the
love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have
compassion, making a difference: 23 And
others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment
spotted by the flesh.
24 Now
unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless
before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God
our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Yea,
let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be
ashamed which transgress without cause. |
|
|
Lead
me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou [art] the God of my salvation; on
thee do I wait all the day. |
|
|
Let
integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait
on thee. |
|
|
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall
strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
|
|
|
Rest
in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not
thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who
bringeth wicked devices to pass. |
|
|
For
evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait
upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. |
|
|
Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall
exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see
[it]. |
|
|
And
now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope [is] in thee.
|
|
|
I
will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done [it]: and I will wait on thy name; for [it is] good before thy saints. |
LISTEN
1 And he began again to
teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that
he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the
sea on the land. 2 And
he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, 3 Hearken; Behold, there
went out a sower to sow: 4 And
it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the
air came and devoured it up. 5 And
some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it
sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the sun was up,
it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. 7 And some fell among
thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. 8 And other fell on good
ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth,
some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9 And he said unto them, He
that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And
when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the
parable. 11 And he said
unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but
unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may
see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at
any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
13 And
he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all
parables? 14 The sower
soweth the word. 15 And
these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have
heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in
their hearts. 16 And
these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have
heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in
themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or
persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 18 And these are they
which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this
world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering
in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20 And these are they
which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring
forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
21 And
he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a
bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? 22 For
there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept
secret, but that it should come abroad. 23 If any
man have ears to hear, let him hear. 24 And
he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall
be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. 25 For he that hath, to him shall
be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he
hath.
26 And
he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the
ground; 27 And should
sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he
knoweth not how. 28 For
the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after
that the full corn in the ear. 29 But
when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because
the harvest is come.
30 And
he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison
shall we compare it? 31 It
is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less
than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But
when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and
shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow
of it.
33 And
with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear
it. 34 But without a
parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all
things to his disciples.
35 And
the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto
the other side. 36 And
when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the
ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great
storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the
hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto
him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and
rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased,
and there was a great calm. 40 And
he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared
exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the
wind and the sea obey him?
