Whom we preach, warning every
man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man
perfect in Christ Jesus: |
|||||
|
|
For I am jealous over you with
godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present
[you as] a chaste virgin to Christ. |

Isaiah 5 |

|

1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved
a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a
very fruitful hill:
2 And
he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the
choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress
therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth
wild grapes.
3 And
now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt
me and my vineyard.
4 What
could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it?
wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild
grapes?
5 And
now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the
hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and
it shall be trodden down:
6 And I
will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up
briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon
it.
7 For
the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah
his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for
righteousness, but behold a cry.
8 Woe unto
them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place,
that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
9 In
mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate,
even great and fair, without inhabitant.

1 I am the true vine, and
my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every
branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that
beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through
the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide
in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide
in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are
the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much
fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If
a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men
gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and
my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father
glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. 9 As the Father hath loved
me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my
commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's
commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These
things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your
joy might be full.
12 This
is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no
man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if
ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth
I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I
have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have
made known unto you. 16 Ye
have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go
and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye
shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17 These things I command
you, that ye love one another.
18 If
the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the
world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I
have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the word that
I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted
me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep
yours also. 21 But all
these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not
him that sent me. 22 If
I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no
cloak for their sin. 23 He
that hateth me hateth my Father also. 24 If
I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had
sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But this cometh to
pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated
me without a cause.
26 But
when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the
Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 27 And ye also shall bear
witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
1 The same day went
Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. 2 And great multitudes
were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the
whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And
he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth
to sow; 4 And when
he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them
up: 5 Some fell upon
stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up,
because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was
up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among
thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into
good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some
thirtyfold. 9 Who
hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And
the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and
said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the
kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath,
to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath
not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I
to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not,
neither do they understand.
14 And
in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall
hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not
perceive:
15 For
this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and
their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be
converted, and I should heal them.
16 But
blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say
unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things
which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear,
and have not heard them.
18 Hear
ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one
heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the
wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he
which received seed by the way side. 20 But
he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the
word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not
root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution
ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. 22 He also that
received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of
this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh
unfruitful. 23 But
he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and
understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an
hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
24 Another
parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a
man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his
enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was
sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the
householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy
field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An
enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and
gather them up? 29 But he
said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with
them. 30 Let both grow
together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the
reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them:
but gather the wheat into my barn.
31 Another
parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a
grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32 Which indeed is the
least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and
becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches
thereof.
33 Another
parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a
woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
34 All
these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable
spake he not unto them:
35 That
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my
mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the
foundation of the world.
36 Then
Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came
unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. 37 He answered and
said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38 The field is the
world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the
children of the wicked one; 39 The
enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and
the reapers are the angels. 40 As
therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the
end of this world. 41 The
Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his
kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them
into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the
righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears
to hear, let him hear.
44 Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a
man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he
hath, and buyeth that field.
45 Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46 Who, when he had
found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
47 Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and
gathered of every kind: 48 Which,
when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into
vessels, but cast the bad away. 49 So
shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the
wicked from among the just, 50 And
shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing
of teeth.
51 Jesus
saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea,
Lord. 52 Then said
he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of
heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of
his treasure things new and old.
53 And
it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed
thence. 54 And when
he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch
that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and
these mighty works? 55 Is
not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren,
James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 56 And his sisters,
are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? 57 And they were
offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour,
save in his own country, and in his own house. 58 And he did not many
mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Luke 13 |

1 There were present at
that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had
mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And
Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners
above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but,
except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen, upon
whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners
above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye
repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
6 He spake also
this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came
and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 7 Then said he unto the dresser of
his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree,
and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8 And he answering said unto him,
Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it bear fruit, well: and
if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
10 And
he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. 11 And, behold, there was
a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together,
and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And
when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art
loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And
he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified
God. 14 And the ruler
of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on
the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men
ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath
day. 15 The Lord then
answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath
loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16 And ought not this
woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen
years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? 17 And when he had said
these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for
all the glorious things that were done by him.
18 Then
said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble
it? 19 It is like a
grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew,
and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
20 And
again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God? 21 It is like leaven,
which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was
leavened.
22 And
he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward
Jerusalem. 23 Then
said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at
the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not
be able. 25 When once
the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to
stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and
he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26 Then shall ye begin to
say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our
streets. 27 But he
shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye
workers of iniquity. 28 There
shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac,
and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust
out. 29 And they shall
come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south,
and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 30 And, behold, there are
last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
31 The
same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out,
and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. 32 And he said unto them,
Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and
to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. 33 Nevertheless I must
walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a
prophet perish out of Jerusalem. 34 O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent
unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth
gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! 35 Behold, your house is
left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until
the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the
Lord.

1 Hear
this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which
oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and
let us drink.
2 The
Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that
he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.
3 And ye
shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye
shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
4 Come to
Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your
sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:
5 And
offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the
free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord
GOD.
6 And I
also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in
all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
7 And
also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months
to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to
rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it
rained not withered.
8 So two
or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not
satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
9 I
have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards
and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured
them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
10 I
have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men
have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made
the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned
unto me, saith the LORD.
11 I
have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were
as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me,
saith the LORD.
12 Therefore
thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare
to meet thy God, O Israel.
13 For,
lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto
man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon
the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
